Our take on a G-8 WEP Flight Jacket, a lesser-known nylon flight jacket on the market nowadays. The G-8 WEP Flight Jacket was issued to the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps fighter pilots from the 1950s to the 1970s. The “WEP” is a short term from “BUWEPS”, which is from the U.S. Navy Bureau of Weapons. Initially issued under the official designation J-WFS, Jacket, Winter Flying Suit.
Originally designed to be worn under exposure suits, its lightweight nylon construction led to its adoption as a casual piece for off-duty pilots.
Our Chennault WEP Jacket features nylon twill and polyester inner linings to keep you well-insulated but comfortable. Custom ribbed knit collar and cuffs. Elastic hem keeps things tight where they’re supposed to be. Finished off with a YKK zipper on the front with a genuine leather tab attached. The large chest pockets and one left arm flapped pocket are super functional to carry your essentials.
